FAQs

I heard Bai Dinh is massive. Will there be too much exhausting walking?

It is indeed the largest Buddhist complex in Viet Nam, covering over 500 hectares! But don’t worry about your legs. We always include two-way electric buggy tickets to comfortably transport you from the main gate to the pagoda entrance. Once inside, your guide will lead you through a strategically paced, shaded walking route. We cover all the magnificent highlights – like the 500 Arhat statues and the giant Bronze Buddha – without turning your peaceful visit into a marathon.

Is there a strict dress code I need to follow?

Yes. As Bai Dinh is an active and deeply respected place of worship, modest attire is required. Both men and women should wear clothing that covers their shoulders and knees. Light, breathable long pants or a maxi dress are perfect for Vietnam’s weather. But if you accidentally wear shorts, don’t stress – your local host will help you rent a traditional sarong at the entrance so you can enter comfortably and respectfully.

I read there is an 'Old' and a 'New' Bai Dinh Pagoda. Which one do we visit?

That’s a great question! While the newly built, record-breaking monumental complex is what you usually see in photos, the true, ancient soul of Bai Dinh lies in the 1,000-year-old pagoda hidden inside the caves of Bai Dinh Mountain. Standard tours often skip it to save time, but if your stamina allows, we highly recommend taking the stone steps up to the old caves to experience the raw, mystical atmosphere of the original sanctuary.

How long does a visit take, and what is the best time to go?

A fulfilling and unhurried visit takes about 2 to 2.5 hours. To avoid the midday heat and the peak crowd, we usually design our itineraries to visit Bai Dinh either early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Because of its location, a morning walk through Bai Dinh pairs perfectly with a relaxing afternoon boat ride in Trang An.
